In the backdrop of the bomb blasts which took place in Sri Lanka, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy cut short his two-day Ayurveda treatment at a health resort at Mulloor village in Udupi district and left for Bengaluru on Tuesday.

Mr. Kumaraswamy had arrived at the private resort on Sunday night. Speaking to mediapersons at Mulloor, he said he was severely disturbed by the death of a number of JD(S) workers in the bomb blasts in Sri Lanka on April 21. Hence, he spoke to the doctors who were treating him at the resort here and decided to cut short his treatment and leave for Bengaluru. The doctors have advised him to return here for treatment on April 27, he said.

Mr. Kumaraswamy described the death of over 300 persons in the bomb blasts in Sri Lanka as a barbaric act. “I pray to God to give strength to the families of the persons from the State and the country who were killed in the bomb blasts,” he said.

He said the JD(S) workers who were killed were close to him. “They were close to me. Their families have been deeply affected. We have lost people who did social work in a sincere manner,” he said.

Mr. Kumaraswamy said that he had directed the Chief Secretary to be in touch with the government of Sri Lanka so that the bodies of the six persons could be brought home as soon as possible. A request has also been made to conduct their autopsy as soon as possible. A private air cargo is ready and the bodies will be brought back to the State soon, he said.
