A woman who claims she found a safety pin inside of a Woolworths salad has urged customers to be careful after her friend almost swallowed the object.

The woman, from Sydney's west, bought two discounted ready-made garden salads from a store in Penrith.

She claims that her friend spat out the safety pin after starting to eat his salad and noticing the tiny steel object in his mouth.
