THANE: The Shiv Sena has once again raised the issue of exemption of property tax for flats below 500 sq ft ahead of the Lok Sabha polls on Tuesday. The Sena supremo also spoke on about its alliance with BJP and slammed the opposition coalition for failing to come up with a prime ministerial candidate.
Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray once again stoked the issue of exempting residents staying in flats within 500sq ft in Thane during his campaign rally in the city on Tuesday night.
Thackeray was in the city to campaign for Rajan Vichare, the saffron parties’ candidate from Thane Lok Sabha constituency.
“I have not forgotten my promise made to Thane and after Mumbai, we will soon ensure relief for residents here,” he said. He once again justified the alliance with the BJP in the country saying it was only to strengthen the saffron parties and made an emotional appeal before the Thane audience to support his decision.
“We have come together for the country and following what the prime minister once said that the best interest of the country should always be a priority,” he said.
Meanwhile, Thackeray also lashed out at the opposition by calling it a faceless coaliton. “We have a prime ministerial candidate ready with us while they are still struggling to decide who will take the seat,” he said taking a dig at the huge number of candidates in the opposition. Taking potshots at the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), he queationed the fate of their candidates especially after their leader had deserted the battlefield.
Citing the instance of how their chieftain Sharad Pawar had deserted the political arena, Thackeray also criticized the opposition to have raised questions over the surgical strike.
