A 23-year-old man, who worked under a cucumber merchant, was shot dead in north-west Delhi’s Azadpur Mandi in the early hours of Tuesday over a land dispute, the police said.
One person has been arrested in connection with the case, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) Vijayanta Arya said that the victim has been identified as Akash Singh, a resident of Mukundpur, who used to work as a clerk for cucumber merchant Vijay Kumar Saini.
The accused arrested for his alleged involvement has been identified as Mohit, she said.
“The police control room received a call around 3.40 a.m. regarding a firing incident in Azadpur Mandi. When a police team reached the spot, they found that the victim was shot at by a group of men,” Ms. Arya said.
The victim was then rushed to a private hospital where he was declared brought dead, she further said.
During investigation, it was revealed that the two sides were at loggerheads over the possession of a land in Azadpur Mandi and had a fight between them over the same on Tuesday.

“A murder case has been registered and further investigation is under way,” Ms. Arya said.
