Police investigating 'threat' at Manly Wharf

Peak-hour ferry services are not running between Circular Quay and Manly as police investigate an apparent threat at Manly Wharf.

A spokeswoman for NSW Police would not give details about the nature of the threat but said police are "doing due diligence" and searching the area.

The threat was received shortly after 5pm, she said, and police are "taking it seriously".

A spokesman for Fire and Rescue NSW said they had one fire truck at the scene "standing by".

Witnesses on social media have said the wharf was evacuated, and described seeing police searching a ferry docked at the wharf.

Another person tweeted that their ferry from Circular Quay had been turned back.

Commuters are being advised to delay their trip, allow plenty of extra travel time or make alternative travel arrangements as replacement buses are organised.

More to come.
