Good response for People With Disabilities app

KOCHI: As many as 1,700 voters with physical disabilities availed the service of People With Disabilities (PWD) app to reach polling booths to cast votes and return home on Tuesday.


71.7% voters with physical disabilities cast their votes in the district. In Thrikkakara, cent percent voting by people with disabilities was recorded. The app, which was developed by the district administration, was downloaded by beneficiaries in their Android mobile phones.


Asha workers had conducted a survey on people with disabilities and prepared their list. When a voter sends a message to the app, the booth-level officer receives it and arranges vehicles for transportation. The election officers had also set up a PWD cell in collectorate. Officers deployed vehicles of various departments for transporting the voters.
