With nowhere else to go, the driver of the red car was forced off the road, near Waikerie, on the south bank of the Murray River.

After the shocking footage emerged, SA Police slammed the offending driver for making such as a risky move and endangering the lives of other motorists.

'The driving in the video is irresponsible,' a police spokesperson told 7News.

'And not only does that driver put their own life at risk, but also the lives of any passengers and other road users.

The police spokesperson urged motorists to take action and contact police if they see any motorists who are driving irresponsibly.

The incredible near-miss footage came within hours of the end of the Easter long weekend.

Three people were killed on SA roads over the holiday - one of the worst road tolls for the state in recent years.

A 47-year-old woman was killed when her car rolled near Kadina in the state's northwest on Saturday.

While two men in their 30s were also killed when their trucks collided and burst into flames on the Augusta highway on Friday.

South Australia's annual road toll is now 39, compared with 22 deaths last year.
