LS Election: About 56.78 pc voting recorded till 1500 hrs in Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram, An average 56.78 per cent of voter turnout was recorded in Kerala till 1500 hours, amidst complaints of faulty Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).

The highest voter turnout was recorded in Kannur at 61.26 per cent and Ponnani registered the lowest polling at 50.9 per cent, according to sources in Election Commission.

Kasaragod recorded 57.36 per cent polling, Vadakara 54.74, Wayanad 59.26, Kozhikode 53.52, Malappuram 53.61, Palakkad 58.77, Alathur 57.06, Thrissur 57.06, Chalakkudy 59.16, Ernakulam 55.11, Idukki 59.12, Kottayam 59, Alappuzha 58.03, Mavelikkara 56.33, Pathanamthitta 58.06, Kollam 55.47, Attingal 56.78 and Thiruvananthapuram 55.82.

Glitches in EVMs were reported across the state and long queues were seen in several booths following the interruption of voting process.

The voting time will be extended in those booths where polling was delayed due to malfunctioning of EVMs, the sources added.
