Treat of classic songs at Swarmilan programme

Nagpur: Singers of Swarmilan music group lit up Tuesday evening with memorable songs at a programme titled ‘Nazar Na Lag Jaye’ that was staged at Utkarsh Hall, Mor Hindi Bhavan.
Conceptualized by members of the group Sulbha Mandekar and Sanjay Pillay, the show was presented by founder Jayprakash Malviya.
Most of the songs presented at the programme were originally sung by legendary singers like Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle and Kishore Kumar.
The singers engaged the audience with rendition of songs like ‘O sajna’, ‘Hum dono milke’, ‘Zindagi pyaar ka geet hai’, ‘Tumhi mere mandir’, ‘Dil ki awaz bhi sun’, ‘Kya hua tera wada’, ‘Mujhko apne gale laga lo’ and ‘Bechara dil kya kare’.
AN Sharma and Meera Sharma presented the first duet ‘Dekho maine dekha hai ek sapna’ from the movie ‘Love Story’, followed by the calming melody ‘Tere mere milan ki yeh raina’. The next was by Malviya and Mandekar on ‘O mere sanam’ was well-received by the audience.
Tunes of ‘Maang ke saath tumhara’ by Pillay and Anjali Wankhede reverberated the hall.
Famous song ‘Aap yun hi agar humse milte rahe’ was rendered by TK Balakrishnan and Jaya Dabhekar. Balakrishnan went on to present another duet with Vaishali Ganorkar on ‘Tumse milna baatein karna’ from the hit movie ‘Tere Naam’.
The gathering was transported to the golden era of Bollywood with the songs like ‘Maine poochha chand se’, ‘Pukarta chala hu main’, ‘Aanewala pal janewala hai’, ‘Dil apna aur preet parai’, ‘Mere saamne wali khidki main’, ‘Nazar na lag jaye’, ‘Ajeeb dastan hai yeh’ and ‘Tere mere beech mein’.
The other singers who regaled the music lovers were Susheela Chauhan, Padma Murti, Jayanti Prasad, Sunil Wadhwani, Prashanti Bhagat, Sudhir Kumar, Ujjwala Ramteke, Mangesh Pawar, Vandana Wandile, Nisha Karode, Sama Solav and Kranti Bhagat. Om Prakash Shahu was the anchor.
