Colva: Verna police have filed a chargesheet against former legislator Francisco Pacheco and two others before the judicial magistrate first class, Margao, for endangering human life by attempting to run over a person at Utorda beach, and threatening the complainant with dire consequences and abusing him with filthy language, a year ago.
On March 11, last year, Verna police had registered an offence against Pacheco and Robino Fernandes, both from Betalbatim, and Sebastiao Vaz from Loutolim under Sections 336, 504 and 506 (ii) of the Indian Penal Code.
The complainant, Fanny da Silva, had lodged a complaint stating that Pacheco drove his vehicle at Utorda beach in a rash and negligent manner, thereby endangering the life and personal safety of her son Melroy da Silva. She stated that Pacheco drove the vehicle over the parachute belonging to her son, who is a watersports operator, and also threatened and abused him.
On March 17, 2018, South Goa additional sessions court, while granting conditional anticipatory bail to the ex-MLA, had ordered him not to enter Utorda for a period of two months and his own village of Betalbatim for 15 days. Pacheco was also directed to furnish a bond of Rs 20,000 and a surety in the like amount. A similar order was passed against Fernandes and Vaz a few days later on March 23.
The matter is fixed for appearance of all the accused for June 24.
