The Islamic Forum for the Promotion of Moderate Thought has condemned the terror attacks in Sri Lanka on Sunday that targeted churches and hotels and left over 290 people dead and 500 wounded.

In a statement, A. Faizur Rahman, the secretary-general of the forum, said, “The brutal blasts have all the hallmarks of a fiendish plot to divide society on communal lines and destabilise the region. A thorough investigation must be conducted not just to identify and legally punish the terrorists who masterminded this heinous crime but also to knock down their nefarious setup.”

The forum offered its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the wounded.
