Images Showing Swans Building Nest Out of Trash & Litter, Raises Concerns By Officials

Images show swans at a local park shockingly making a nest out of sticks but also trash and discarded plastics.

The photographer snapped these images at Drumpellier Country Park in Coatbridge, Scotland just outside of Glasgow.

With footage also showing the swans’ nest near an overflowing trash can with litter strewn about.

"The poor swans.

It is so embarrassing that we have this beautiful park in Coatbridge and the privilege of having these lovely animals yet look how poorly we are taking care of both.” said one visitor to SWNS.

Female swans usually lay up to 7 eggs in late April and May and both the female and male incubate the nest.

The pair of swans at the park have also been seen curiously probing drink cans with their beaks to possibly add on to the nest, which raises concern.

Scottish SPCA chief superintendent Mike Flynn commented “We have noticed an alarming increase in animal injuries due to incorrectly discarded” trash.

Going on to comment by properly throwing away trash in bins and receptacles, it will help save wildlife.

Officials have also stated anyone who is caught littering or improperly throwing away trash will be fined.
