Bollywood composer Shekhar Ravjiani looks back on his car memories, both good and bad

My first car was a silver Fiat Palio with a diesel engine. I love Fiat cars because I think they are powerful machines and quite dependable. I don’t know much about the technical aspects of cars, but it was really cool. The only thing I want from a car is that it should drive well and my car more than served the purpose!

I don’t think much about the specifications, like whether it is an automatic car or a sedan or an SUV. Also, I am not the kind of person who always uses a car for my travels. Sometimes, I take a bus or a train or the Metro. However, most of my car memories are with my wife. My love story started when I was 19, and I used to go with Chhaya, then my girlfriend, on drives sometimes when we wanted to be together. Since then, most of the cars I have bought have been chosen by her. I just drive them.

I had a Honda Accord V6, which is probably the best car I have had in my life. But I have a dark memory associated with that car. I met with an accident on a highway but, fortunately, I escaped unscathed. The car was totalled. I was in shock for quite a while and did not drive for three months.

After that, I wanted to buy an expensive car that I felt would be safer. I went to a car dealer and bought the silver-grey Range Rover sports edition which I drive today.
