“The Redmi Y3 is next selfie-centric smartphone from the brand and is equipped with a 32MP front shooter”
Xiaomi is all set to launch its next Y series smartphone, the Redmi Y3, perhaps alongside Redmi 7, in India tomorrow. The company has already teased the dual rear cameras and 4,000mAh battery of the Redmi Y3 on social media. A short video recently shared by the brand also confirmed a waterdrop style notch, dual rear cameras, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and a gradient back. Now, the Redmi Y3 has been spotted on the popular benchmarking website Geekbench, revealing a few more details.
According to the Geekbench listing, the upcoming Redmi Y3 smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. Notably, this is the same processor that powered its successor, Redmi Y2 (review). This could mean that the Redmi Y3 might come at a more affordable price point. The listing also reveals that the processor will be mated to 3GB RAM. As for the software, the smartphone is seen running the Android 9 Pie. The Redmi Y3 scored 1,220 in single-core test and 4,215 in multi-core test. This score is on par with smartphones in this segment.
Speaking of the Redmi Y3, the teaser video showed waterdrop notch display with sizeable chin on the front. It also gave us a glimpse of a polycarbonate build with the glass-like finish on the back in new gradient colours. The rear panel of the Redmi Y3 features dual rear cameras of which one is expected to be a depth sensor. The smartphone is expected to run the newest MIUI 10 custom OS based on Android 9 Pie. Apart from the 3GB model shown in the Geekbench listing, the Redmi Y3 is also expected to come in a 4GB variant. Unfortunately, nothing else is known about the upcoming smartphone at the moment.
We will know more about the smartphone, including the Redmi Y3 price in India and availability tomorrow when it goes official, so stay tuned.
