An MBBS student was found dead in his college hostel on Monday evening, the police said.
“We were informed about the incident around 4 p.m. The student was found hanging and the room was locked from outside,” a senior police officer said, adding that “his belongings are being checked to see if he has left behind any note”.
Preliminary enquiry has revealed that the student was allegedly upset over an examination in which he had failed and the shortage of attendance in college.
The police said that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and inquest proceedings have been initiated.
