2019 Lok Sabha polls: Raj says Ambani endorsement of Deora shows BJP on its way out
Thackeray said Ambani’s endorsement is not just for Deora alone
lok sabha elections Updated: Apr 24, 2019 00:14 ISTMaharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray said that industrialist Mukesh Ambani’s endorsement of Congress candidate Milind Deora is an indication of which way the political wind was blowing.
In his rally speech at Kalachowkie, a part of Mumbai South constituency, where Congress candidate Deora is fighting the elections, Thackeray said Ambani’s endorsement is not just for Deora alone. “This means that Mukesh Ambani will vote for the Congress. This is not confined to South Mumbai alone, but is a message for the whole of India that the BJP is on its way out. This message is that the BJP will not come back to power again. Modi will not become the Prime Minister again,” said Thackeray. “Or else why would Mukesh Ambani come out with such a statement. I have not come across any occasion where an industrialist came out so openly in favour of a political party,” he added.
He said that it was contrast that while Ambani said he will vote for the Congress, which means Milind Deora, Pakistan’s Prime Minister was rooting for Modi.
The CM, on Tuesday, said, “Any person can endorse a candidate. That doesn’t mean he is supporting any party. In the last election too, he had given his vote to Deora, but the Sena won. This time too, the Sena will win.”
For the first time on Tuesday, Thackeray urged voters not to vote for the Sena. “I want Narendra Modi and Amit Shah out from the political landscape. Any vote cast for the Sena means voting for this duo,” he said. He said that if an inquiry would show demonetization as the biggest scam of Independent India. He also showed a pamphlet released by the BJP under its campaign ‘Modi Hain to Mumkin Hain’ where a family is shown as a representation of those who were lifted out of poverty. The family was brought on the dias. “Their family photo was lifted from Facebook and used for the campaign. They were not even aware of that,” he said.
