As versatile as he is, Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has taken on a new role.

He hinted at that new role earlier in the day with a cryptic tweet saying, “Getting into an unknown and uncharted territory today. Doing something I have never done before. Excited and nervous both. Stay tuned for updates.”

In this season of elections, with Bollywood stars jumping into the electoral fray, when people on Twitter began wondering whether Akshay Kumar was taking the plunge into politics, the actor took to Twitter once again to clarify that that wasn’t the case.

“Grateful for all the interest shown in my previous tweet but just clarifying in light of some wild speculation, I am not contesting elections,” he tweeted.

Nearly seven hours later, Akshay Kumar finally revealed what he was up to. Perhaps for the first time, he is assaying the role of an interviewer and who else to begin with but Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“While the whole country is talking elections and politics, here’s a breather. Privileged to have done this candid and COMPLETELY NON POLITICAL freewheeling conversation with our PM @narendramodi,” he tweeted along with a 24-second video.

In the video, he asks the PM whether he ever wishes to spend time with his mother, his brother and other relatives. To this, the PM Modi replies, “I gave up all of that at a very young age. My mother tells me why do I waste time with her.”

In another video Akshay Kumar asks PM Modi how he manages to get through the day with just three hours’ sleep. To this, PM Modi replies, “Whenever I meet Obama, he also asks me the same thing. He asks me why I do this. Every time he meets me, he asks me if I have started sleeping more or not.”

During the course of the interview Akshay Kumar also asks the PM some free-wheeling, light-hearted questions such as whether he eats mangoes or not and whether he was actually a true Gujarati.
