Noida: The district administration on Monday awarded compensation to 40 Jewar farm owners for land acquired for the proposed international airport. The money was transferred to the bank accounts of the farmers belonging to the villages of Ranhera and Parohi, officials said.
Balram Singh, ADM (land acquisition) Gautam Budh Nagar, said that the farm owners of Ranhera and Parohi had received compensation. “We will visit the earmarked land from Tuesday and take possession of land,” he said.
The administration had notified 1,239 hectares across the villages for acquisition in the first phase. The notified land is owned by 8,971 families, of whom there are 3,627 families whose farming as well residential land has been identified for acquisition.
District magistrate BN Singh said the compensation constitutes the land price and rehabilitation and resettlement (R&R) benefits. “We have started giving compensation for land to the farm owners. The R&R benefits will be delivered soon in a systematic manner,” he said.
ADM Singh said compensation has been awarded to those who have given consent. However, Amit Kumar, a Ranhera resident, said his family, despite giving consent, had not received anything. “My family owns around 10 acres of land in the village. We did not receive compensation,” he said.
