Panaji bypoll notified

The Election Commission of India on Monday notified the dates for the bypoll to the Panaji assembly segment to be held on May 19, 2019.

The bypoll has been necessitated following the death of former chief minister Manohar Parrikar.

The notification was issued on Monday.

The last day for filing  nomination papers will be April 29.

Scrutiny of the nomination papers will take place on April 30, while the last day for withdrawal of nomination papers will  be May 2.

Polling will take place on May 19, and votes will be counted on May 23 along with the  votes to be polled on Tuesday for both the parliamentary seats and

the bypolls to the Mandrem, Shiroda and Mapusa constituencies.

As per the data provided by the CEO, the Panaji constituency has  22,482 voters – 10,697 male and 11,785 female electors.

The capital city will have a total of 30 polling stations for the bypoll.
