The Congress has demanded that the Telangana Government order judicial probe by a sitting judge of the High Court into the alleged irregularities committed by officials of Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) and Globarena Technologies in the Intermediate results.
Spokesperson of AICC, Sravan Dasoju, said on Monday that blunders committed by TSBIE in declaring Inter results had caused serious agony to thousands of students and their parents. He demanded the State Government to place under suspension all officials of the Board responsible for the goof-up, including its Secretary A. Ashok, immediately for their callous and corrupt practices.
Addressing a press conference at New Delhi, he also demanded sacking of Education Minister G. Jagadish Reddy. He alleged that incompetency and corrupt administration of TSBIE authorities had led to most unwanted manipulations in the Intermediate results, subjecting thousands of meritorious students to gross injustice and immense mental agony and putting their academic career in jeopardy.
The mistakes committed by TSBIE had resulted in suicides by over a dozen students, and their families are in deep distress now, Mr. Sravan said, demanding ex-gratia payment of ₹25 lakh each to all victim families.
Condemning the attitude of TSBIE authorities for their refusal to address grievances of thousands of students and parents, the Congress leader also faulted them for advising the students to apply for recounting or revaluation.
Describing the BIE officials suggestion as an attempt to cover up their mismanagement and manipulation, Mr. Sravan asked the State Government to direct the Inter Board to take up recounting and re-evaluation free of cost.
‘Norms flouted’
The AICC spokesperson pointed out that irregularities in Inter results were not incidental but were a result of gross violation of norms and other manipulations.
Till 2017-18, TSBIE used to divide examination work in two parts with data processing – admissions, centre allotment and others – handled by the Centre for Good Governance (CGG) and processing of results carried out by experienced and expert private agencies, he stated.
However, TSBIE combined both tasks and gave it to single agency – Globarena Technologies – for 2018-19 by flouting norms, although it is not eligible for the contract on many counts (clauses in the tender notification), the Congress leader alleged.
He demanded the government to set up help centres in every District Collectorate and RDO office so that students and parents could report their issues instead of coming to Hyderabad.
