Teen attacked with cricket bat near Manekbaug

AHMEDABAD: A 14-year-old boy was attacked with a cricket bat for playing the game at a public place near Manekbaug area of the city on Saturday.
Complainant, Sadhna Gomal, 42, who works as a domestic help, stated in her FIR with Ellisbridge police that her nephew, Bijal (14), was hit by one Bachu Thakor. “When I was working at a bungalow in Manekbaug, one of Bijal’s friends told me that he was attacked by Thakor with a cricket bat. When I rushed there, I found Bijal lying unconscious in a pool of blood with injuries on his forehead,” said the complainant.
Some local residents called 108 ambulance and rushed Bijal to VS Hospital. “During treatment, Bijal told me that when he along with other children were playing cricket, Thakor rushed to them and started abusing them for playing there. When the children asked him not to abuse them, he snatched the cricket bat from Bijal and hit him multiple times on his head,” said the complainant.
Ellisbridge police registered a complaint of assault against Thakor and began an investigation.
