Ranchi: A prominent Left party in the state, CPI(ML) on Monday said it will support Congress, JMM, RJD though it is not part of the opposition mahagathbandhan led by the Grand Old Party.
Speaking on the occasion of releasing party manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, CPI(ML) state secretary Janardhan Prasad said his party would support JMM, Congress, and RJD candidates in Dumka, Jamshedpur, Giridih and Chatra. In Chatra, where Congress and RJD are both putting up candidates, the Left party will support the RJD candidate. Moreover, in other constituencies, CPI(ML) will support the strongest anti-BJP candidate, he said.
The party, which is fighting the parliamentary polls from Koderma and Palamu, further said it would support CPI candidate B P Mehta in Hazaribag and CPM’s Gopin Soren in Rajmahal.
Prasad said, “Our leaders will campaign for Left party candidates while there will be active support at the ground level for other aspirants from opposition parties to defeat BJP.”
On his party’s manifesto, the Left leader said it aims creating an India of B R Ambedkar and Bhagat Singh’s dreams. Prasad said the manifesto has few state-specific issues, which the party wants to deal with. He said providing basic needs including health, education, home and employment to people, ending corporate rule, public-oriented changes in economic policy, stopping corruption and providing autonomy to investigative and vigilance institutions are among the main agenda on which the party is reaching out to the people.
He added that Jharkhand, which has witnessed a large number of hunger death and mob-lynching incidents, will be poll issues during the party’s campaigns.
