Abetment to suicide case registered

In a twist to the mysterious death of 21-year-old B.Tech student S. Jyotsna who was found dead in the house of her former lecturer at Akkayyapalem on April 15, the IV-Town police on Saturday night arrested the lecturer Ankur Kisle and his colleague Niranjan Patel for their alleged involvement in the case.

The police which earlier had registered a suspicious death case under Section 174 of the IPC have changed it to abetment to suicide and causing disappearance of evidence of offence under Section 306 and 201 of the IPC respectively.

Call data records

According to IV-Town Inspector Y. Ravi, they had retrieved the call data records of the victim which revealed that she had many phone conversations and exchanged text messages with Ankur. Moreover, photos of the duo were also found in the girl’s cellphone, he said.

“Ankur and Naranjan have been arrested for their suspected involvement in the case. We suspect that it a case of abatement of suicide. However, we are yet to ascertain their exact role and cause of the death. Further investigation is on,” Mr. Ravi told The Hindu.

Jyotsna was a former student of Ankur who, along with his colleague Niranjan, live in a house at Akkayapalem and the girl, a resident of Malkapuram, was said to be a frequent visitor to the house.

On April 15, Ankur told the police that they were not aware when Jyotsna had entered their house and they (Ankur and Niranjan) found her hanging in a room after they returned from college in the afternoon. Ankur also claimed that Jyotsna had proposed him many a time, but he had rejected it.
