From Ecuador the teens were returning to Boston and ate at an restaurant the previous night.
However, Massachusetts Port Authority spokeswoman Samantha Decker said the passengers’ symptoms appeared mild.
According to the EMS officials it had transported 13 patients from Boston Logan International Airport to Massachusetts General Hospital in the morning. All of them had minor symptoms.
The group of 40 people had a connecting flight in Miami and the Massachusetts Port Authority spokeswoman Samantha Decker confirmed that a total of 16 passengers fell ill on the flight.
It was noted that no crew members or passengers outside the student group felt the symptoms. The student complained of stomach virus symptoms.
From the hospital at least five patients were released in good condition while the emergency personnel had cleared the airplane to fly again.
