Hectic day for candidates, leaders on eve of polling

On the eve of polling, candidates for the 14 Lok Sabha Constituencies in central and northern regions of Karnataka spent their energy and time meeting as many voters as possible on Monday.

In Kalaburagi, Congress Leader in the Lok Sabha M. Mallikarjun Kharge, went door to door in various localities of the city seeking votes based on his performance. His opponent Umesh Jadhav of the BJP too visited several houses.

Amid his hectic schedule of campaigning, BJP candidate for Dharwad constituency Pralhad Joshi, attended a marriage in Hubballi and then visited a bereaved family in Keshwapur. Mr. Joshi, subsequently, spent his day visiting localities in Dharwad and Shiggavi. His opponent Vinay Kulkarni, spent the day at his house meeting workers and other Congress and JD(S) leaders, who had taken up the responsibility of door to door canvassing.

In Belagavi, the BJP team was divided into eight units for door to door canvassing. His opponent V.S. Sadhunavar of Congress chose to visit some areas in his hometown Bailhongal and then in Belagavi city.

In Vijayapura and Bagalkot constituencies, small groups carrying handbills of contesting parties and wearing party caps were seen going from one locality to another. There were reports about candidates and their followers holding indoor meetings to woo voters.

In Davanagere and Shivamogga constituencies, candidates chose to remain indoors holding meetings and assigning tasks to workers.
