Police search for owner after abandoned kayak found off Bellarine

An abandoned kayak found off the Bellarine Peninsula on Easter Monday has sparked a police search for its owner.

Fishermen found the kayak anchored off Beacon Point Road at Clifton Springs about 12.30pm.

Three fishing rods were attached to the khaki-coloured Aqua Yak kayak, and no paddle has been found.

Nobody has been reported missing but Water Police and a police Air Wing chopper are searching off the coast.

Police are asking for the kayak's owner to come forward.
