Ujjain: A tragedy was averted in the Ujjain Municipal Corporation’s swimming pool here on Sunday as a young swimmer somehow survived an accident involving another swimmer. This incident occurred at about 3.30 pm at portion of the pool which is 16 feet deep. At that time hundreds of youths were swimming in the pool. Suddenly by accident a swimmer jumped over one 17-year-old Vaibhav Tiwari, a resident of Alakhnanda Nagar.
As the full weight of the swimmer came on Vaibhav, he drowned deep to 16 ft in the pool and seeing this, another swimmer helped him to come out of the pool. He was rushed to a private hospital where four stitches were applied on his head. Vaibhav’s father Dinesh Tiwari, who also works in corporation, told Free Press that presence of high number of swimmers against the actual capacity of the pool was the main reason behind the incident. He also complained that the swimming pool in-charge was also absent from the duty.
