HBO is about to blast off into uncharted territory. As the cable network prepares to say goodbye to not one but two long-time staples on its schedule, Game of Thrones and Veep, it is at least keeping the spirit of one of them on our screens for the near immediate future. HBO has ordered the comedy Avenue 5, from Veep creator Armando Iannucci, to series.

Avenue 5 is set 40 years in the future and is described by Varietyas a "space tourism comedy... when the solar system is everyone's oyster." Hugh Laurie is starring in the show as Captain Ryan Clark, alongside Josh Gad, Zach Woods, and Nikki Amuka-Bird. Gad is playing Herman Judd, who's a billionaire and the face and name behind Avenue 5; Woods is playing Matt Spencer, who's the Head of Customer Relations for Avenue 5; and Amuka-Bird is in charge of the Avenue 5 mission control back on Earth.

Iannucci is no stranger to HBO ensemble comedies, as he served as creator and showrunner for the first four seasons of Veep before leaving to work on other projects (Laurie has also appeared in multiple episodes of Veep, playing Senator Tom James). Iannucci will serve as executive producer and also directed the pilot episode.

So far Gad is the only cast member to take to social media to talk about the news, tweeting out a link to the news and joking, "I wanna see this." We do to. Let's hope that Avenue 5 is able to capture Veep's hilarity, and also maybe Julia Louis-Dreyfus for a guest role.
