Bangladesh national caught at KIA

He had an Indian passport and was heading to the UAE

Immigration officials on Saturday caught a 47-year-old Bangladesh national while he was trying to board a flight to the UAE from the Kempegowda International Airport with a valid Indian passport .

The accused, Mohammed Aleem Shaikh Eyad Ali, was caught when he submitted the passport and voter ID issued from Bengaluru for clearance.

On suspicion, the officials questioned Ali, who confessed that he had come to India in 2004 on a business visa and landed in Bengaluru and has been overstaying since then. Ali said he is a native of Bangladesh and was a tailor by profession.

Ali started working as a tailor and stayed in a rented house in HSR Layout for a few years before obtaining a voter ID and Aadhaar.

Using the IDs, he eventually obtained a passport from the Regional Passport Office, Bengaluru and was planning to go to the UAE in search of employment, when he was caught.

Ali was booked under the Foreigners Act and also under various sections of the Passport Act and remanded in judicial custody.
