KANPUR: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday accused Adityanath-led government of failing to ensure safety of commuters, following a road accident in Mainpuri on Agra-Expressway in which seven passengers were killed and 34 others injured on late Saturday night.

To recall, a private bus, carrying 41 passengers, which was on way to Varanasi from Delhi, rammed into a truck on Agra-Lucknow Expressway, killing seven passengers and injuring 34 others on late Saturday night.

"The state government only recovers toll but never cares for safety of the people commuting on the Expressway," Akhilesh alleged after meeting the survivors of the accident at Saifai medical university in Etawah on Sunday.

"Highway policing system launched during the SP government has completely failed on the Expressway in the present BJP regime," Akhilesh said.

In the BJP rule, farmers are worried as their agricultural fields are being damaged. Similarly, hospitals lack proper acilities while dial-100 services and ambulance system have totally collapsed, said the former UP chief minister.

"The ruling BJP government is also suffering from a 'kaam roko' (stall work) syndrome like the 'gala ghotu' disease found in animals. It has stalled all good works initiated by the SP government. The present state government did nothing but ruined the country, and now people will teach BJP a lesson in the LS polls", Akhilesh further said.
