Pune: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will take more time to shift the Shivajinagar ST Stand to Mula Road due to the Lok Sabha election.

The shifting has been necessitated due to the metro work and the bus port proposed to be built at its current location.

The proposal was passed in October-November 2018 but the land acquisition was delayed, and now the work is progressing at a slow pace. It will take another two months to shift the ST stand, said a senior official on the condition of anonymity.

“Currently, the Shivajinagar ST stand occupies 15,700 square metres of area and the bus stand, workshop and ST office operate from here. The MSRTC will provide 3,185 square metres of space to MahaMetro for the metro rail work,” said the officer.

“There will be two project works together. One is the metro station and underground railway track and later, the bus port work will begin. The completion of the work will take three years, and due to this, the bus operation will be shifted to Mula Road,” the officer further added.

The officer pointed out that two months ago, five acres of land was acquired at Mula Road.

“The work of ST bus stand platform, maintenance of buses, workshop, sitting arrangements for passengers and cabin for officials was supposed to be started by MahaMetro in December. But, we are waiting for starting of these works,’’ he said.

“MahaMetro has not provided facilities and space to MSRTC. We are waiting for the facilities. It is expected that work will start in June last week,” the officer said.
