Poll body officer injured as kite string slits throat

This is the second such incident reported in north Delhi this year. In the previous incident on April 2, an 18-year-old biker was killed after a kite string slit his throat, cutting his windpipe and killing him.

A 33-year-old man, working as an assistant programmer at Delhi’s Election Commission office, was critically injured after his throat was slit by a kite string while he was riding a motorcycle through a road near Jama Masjid Friday evening, police said.

This is the second such incident reported in north Delhi this year. In the previous incident on April 2, an 18-year-old biker was killed after a kite string slit his throat, cutting his windpipe and killing him.

Police said the assistant programmer, Rajneesh Singh, received 31 stitches in his neck at Lok Nayak hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. His condition is serious though out of danger. A case of causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others under IPC Section 337 has been registered against unknown persons at Kotwali police station.

In 2017, the government banned sale of Chinese manjha after a spate of deaths.
