BENGALURU: Multiple organisations on Saturday protested against the alleged murder of a 21-year-old engineering student in Raichur reported on April 13.
The protesters, who gathered at Mysore Bank Circle, were from three major organisations: The All India Democratic Students Organisation (AIDSO), All India Mahila Sanskritik Sanghathan (AIMSS) and All India Democratic Youth Organization (AIDYO).
Claiming that police apathy in the case was very apparent, Shobha S, state secretary of AIMSS, said the agitation was not restricted to Bengaluru but similar protests were being held across Karnataka.
"Police started investigating the case seven days after the FIR was lodged, that too after protests by students," said Shobha, claiming that cops had initially threatened to book students for violating the "model code of conduct".
"They were told they could get expelled from college, but the students remained unfazed and continued to demand justice," she said.
