To have separate legal desk, use social media platforms

Delhi Congress president Sheila Dikshit on Saturday inaugurated a control room to oversee the party’s campaign for the Lok Sabha election at the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC) office.

The centralised control room will coordinate with similar control rooms located in each of the seven Lok Sabha constituencies in the Capital and disseminate “relevant information” regarding the Congress candidates’ election campaign, the party said.

Besides Ms. Dikshit, other prominent members from the party who were present on the occasion included former Delhi Ministers Mangat Ram Singhal, Dr. Narendra Nath, Dr. Kiran Walia, spokesperson Jitender Kumar Kochar and Rohit Manchanda.

The control room will be headed by party member Dr. Rakesh Sachdeva.

“There are seven separate desks at the DPCC control room to collate information from all the seven Parliamentary constituencies, including the detailed campaign schedule, meetings and other programmes of each of the Congress candidates,” the statement said.

In addition, there is also a separate legal desk to advise the party’s candidates on legal matters that may arise during the election campaign, the statement further read.

The control room will use social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Shakti App, WhatsApp, SMS and voice calls extensively for the party’s election campaign and also provide information regarding United Progressive Alliance (UPA) chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s public meetings and Congress president Rahul Gandhi and All India Congress Committee General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi’s road shows.

“Congress president Rahul Gandhi has allowed the use of Shakti App by the DPCC Control Room,” former Delhi Minister Dr. Narendra Nath said.
