Owing to sustained efforts of the district SVEEP committee, polling percentage in the district has increased by 4.79% in 2019. The district recorded a voting percentage total of 70.79% in the elections.
The 17 Lok Sabha elections in the distrct have seen many variations in the voting percentage. In 1999, the district saw the highest polling percentage of 73% and in 1999, it recorded the lowest of 54%. In 1967, 1980, 1991, and 2004, it recorded less than 60% polling. In the 1984, 1999, 2019 elections, Chitradurga recorded more than 70% polling. In 2014, it had recorded 66% polling.
Keeping this in view, the district SVEEP committee had taken several measures to increase polling percentage. Among the eight Assembly constituencies in the Lok Sabha segment, the Holalkere segment recorded highest voting of 74.17 % and Pavagad recorded the lowest of 64.66 %. Molkalmur recorded 72.88%, Challakere 68.18%, Chitradurga 68.32%, Hiriyur 72.94%, Hosadurga 72.71%, and Sira 74.16%.
In the constituency there are a total of 17,60,111 voters in which 12,44,940 voters have exercised their franchise, Among these voters 69.29 % are female and 72.15% are male while others are 10.81%.
