JAIPUR: A day after a 68-year-old woman was critically injured after being assaulted by her domestic help, city police teams fanned out across the state to track down the accused, who had quickly fled after he failed to break open the almirahs.
ACP (Vaishali Nagar) Rai Singh Beniwal said that an FIR under Section 394 (causing hurt in committing robbery) of the IPC, was registered against the absconding accused, Subhash. Meanwhile, the special teams of Jaipur police have fanned out across the state to track him down.
“Subhash failed to rob any cash or valuable items as he could not open the almirahs. He ransacked the entire house including some drawers and closets, but did not find anything. He fled from the house quickly after realising that his robbery bid had fizzled out,” Beniwal said. Chanda Khandelwal, who sustained severe injuries in the assault, inside her ninth floor apartment is undergoing treatment, while the family said that Subhash had spent a brief spell as their domestic help before. “About eight months ago, he had worked with the family, but left for Nepal later. He had returned only four months ago. He was working with the family sans police verification,” said Beniwal.
The sources in Jaipur police said that Subhash was hired on the recommendation of a family friend. “He had come on somebody else’s recommendation. He knew other helpers who hailed from Nepal too, we have spoken to all of them to ascertain his whereabouts,” an official said.
Meanwhile, the accused had quickly switched off his phone after the incident. DCP (West) Vikas Sharma informed TOI that Subhash is the key accused in the case and cops are hunting for him.
