Man kills girlfriend’s dad for refusing wedding proposal

AGRA: A 24-year-old youth allegedly murdered his girlfriend’s father after the victim rejected the couple’s marriage proposal.
The incident took place on Friday night, near Hazara canal in Dholna police jurisdiction of Kaganj district.
Victim was identified as Mahendra Singh (50), resident of Dhaniyaganj village. His body was found on Saturday morning in a pool of blood with his throat slit. According to police, victim’s daughter Rajani was in a relationship with accused Vivek Singh (24) for last three years.
Speaking to TOI, Ravinder Bahadur Singh, station house officer of Dholna said, “The couple wanted to marry, but Mahendra Singh fixed his daughter’s marriage to someone else for better living standard. Vivek was unemployed and had no means to earn.”
“Vivek was enraged over Mahendra’s decision and took him near a canal on Friday night on the pretext of talk. He served liquor to the victim and once the latter became unconscious, slit his throat with a sharp instrument,” said the officer.
The accused was arrested and booked under IPC section 302 (murder).
