Gurgaon: A cab driver allegedly attacked a car owner and a traffic policeman in an incident of road rage in the Udyog Vihar area on Saturday morning.
The car owner said that the accused hit his vehicle from behind and picked up a fight with him. Then he allegedly tried to run him over. When a traffic policeman intervened, the accused tried to hit him with his cab in his bid to escape. The owner has lodged a police complaint.
In his complaint, Kirnesh Jangra, a resident of Dundahera village and youth president of Rashtriya Sahara Party, said that he reached the Udyog Vihar area around 10am on Saturday. He had driven there from his village for some work. He said that he was driving slow as all the vehicles on the road were doing likewise. The accused was allegedly honking from behind and even hit his car.
“I gave him space on the side to go ahead but he stopped his car in front of mine and started abusing me. I got down to reason with him but he picked up a stone and threw it at me. I ducked but it hit my hand. I started running but he kept throwing stones at my car and broke its side mirror. When locals tried to catch him, he got into his cab and started chasing me. I ran for my life but fell and injured myself. I was rushed to a hospital,” said Jangra in his complaint.
According to police, an on-duty cop rushed to the spot but the cab driver tried to hit him too as he fled the scene. The cop had a narrow escape. “After receiving the complaint, which mentioned the cab’s registration number, we identified the driver and called him to join the investigation,” said inspector Devender Kumar, SHO, Udyog Vihar police station.
