HOWRAH: The body of a six-year-old boy was found facedown next to a ditch in Howrah’s Domjur on Saturday morning.
However, when officers tried to remove Sayan Naskar’s body from the spot, villagers in Lakshanpara stopped them, demanding immediate arrest of the culprits. They even hurled bricks at the cops, smashing the windscreen of a police car in the process. Police resorted to lathicharge before successfully removing the body.
Originally from Mumbai’s Thane, the victim and his mother were visiting his uncle’s house in Domjur. According to a complaint lodged by the child’s mother, he had gone missing on April 17. She had alleged that her son had been murdered.
Additional SP (headquarters) Rana Mukherjee said, “We have started a murder case based on complaint lodged by the child’s mother. We have also sought the autopsy report urgently.”
