Pune: Riyaz Tamboli (40), a real estate property consultant and a resident of NIBM, has been relentlessly working for the families of construction workers living in Undri, NIBM and Kondhwa. As summers have started in the city, he is distributing 40-50 earthen pots every day to their families.

“As areas like Undri and NIBM are expanding, many new apartments are being built. Approximately 400 construction workers along with their families are staying in slums there. They are mostly from Marathwada and have come here to earn money. I have been working in the real estate industry for many years and have seen their situation. This inspired me to do something for them,” said Tamboli.

From providing food packets every week to the children to giving sanitary pads to the women, Tamboli has been working for the past five years to provide basic amenities to these families. He said, “My friends help me a lot financially. A lot of my friends donate things and ask me to give it to these families.” He also collected clothes and utensils to be distributed to the families.

Recently, when a few of them complained about dengue, he donated mosquito nets to around 50 families.
