Adoor Prakash, the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) candidate for the Attingal Lok Sabha constituency, has raised allegations of discrepancies in the voters’ list in his constituency.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said attempts were being made to influence the election results through several people having multiple election ID cards. He has lodged complaints with the Election Commission as well as the District Collector regarding this.
As proof, he produced copies of the voters’ list from various booths in the constituency, in which multiple entries with different election ID numbers were seen for some people. “This can be cases of people having fake ID cards. Such discrepancies will not happen without the support of the booth level officers. According to our calculations, there are as many as 1,12,322 identity cards having this problem. It is all the more serious that such discrepancies have been found in the final voter list published by the Election Commission,” he said.
Asked whether UDF voters are also included in the list, he said the allegations were not being raised against particular party, but with an intention that no malpractice should happen.
