Adopting an aggressive stand against the SP-BSP-RLD alliance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said here on Saturday the opportunistic alliance would come to an end on May 23 May, when the Lok Sabha election results would be out and Modi regime would be back in the saddle.

Addressing rally on Ramlila ground here a day after SP leader Mulayam Singh Yadav and BSP leader Mayawati shared the dais in Mainpuri (55 km from Modi rally venue), the PM said, “A friendship was forged during UP assembly elections too but it ended once they both lost and BJP won,” reminding the gathering of the SP-Congress alliance without taking names.

“It was indeed a ‘tough’ decision for BSP leader Mayawati to join those whom she had been targeting for poor law and order in the state,” he said in a sarcastic tone.

It may be recalled that BSP leader Mayawati was very aggressive on Friday and called Modi a ‘fake’ backward, justifying her ‘tough’ decision to join hand with those blamed for the infamous guest house incident in Lucknow, in the larger interest of the nation.

In a scathing attack on the alliance, Modi said, “There is panic among the opposition after the first two polling phases and those abusing me have lost their sleep. They underestimated the UP voters who all voted for Modi (BJP),” he said.

“These mahamilawat members divided UP on caste lines and while playing politics in the name of the poor, they increased their bank balance. The Samajwadi Party in its tenure never provided a list to the centre for houses to the poor despite our letters. The SP and BSP have different flags but same intention,” Modi said.

“During bua (Mayawati) regime there was rampant corruption and then during babua (Akhilesh) regime the atrocities on dalits increased. It is indeed tough for Behanji to seek votes for alliance partners during whose regime girls never found themselves safe in the state,” the Prime Minister said.

He said the election result would be the beginning of part two of enmity between ‘bua’ and ‘babua’ with the BJP coming to power.

“Do not waste your vote and send the mahamilawat packing in this election,” he said, stressing that only a strong government could save the nation and its pride. Coming to the issue of nationalism, he asked if it was not right to fight terrorism or hit terrorists after crossing the border in Pakistan.

“Who can save the nation’s pride? Can the SP, BSP or Congress do this? Then who?” questioned Modi and when the crowd roared his name, he said, “It would be your vote to me which would do this.”.

Pleased with the turnout, Modi kept on interacting with the gathering through questions and said that there was a chowkidar in each house who would work to protect the nation.

“Does this huge gathering send a signal? I feel the election result is here. Those in Delhi sitting in air conditioned rooms say there is no wave. Let them come and see this,” said a visibly pleased Prime Minister .

Earlier, while welcoming the PM, chief minister Yogi Aditya Nath also said the first two phases of election had proved there was a Modi wave as the nation wanted to see him as Prime Minister again because he made possible what was impossible for the opposition.

Yogi also toed the ‘nationalism’ line and credited Modi for enhancing India’s pride globally.
