MUMBAI: Police on Thursday booked a 33-year-old woman on charges of abetting the suicide of a builder. The deceased, Sagar Shinde, was found hanging at his Goregaon residence on Wednesday. Sagar was a close relative of Shiv Sena leader Dilip Shinde.

As per the report, no suicide note has been recovered.

According to the police, Sagar is survived by wife and two children. On Wednesday, when he did not come out from his room for a long time, his father was alarmed and broke open the door. The deceased was found hanging from the ceiling fan. Sagar was rushed to the hospital in a semi-conscious state but he died during treatment around 2pm. The body was sent for an autopsy.

On Thursday, Sagar's father, Manik, approached the Goregaon police and lodged a complaint against a woman. He stated that the woman was mentally harassing Sagar. She wanted him to separate from his wife and was also demanding money. Sagar was under a lot of stress, according to the complaint.

"We will conduct a thorough probe and question the woman. No arrest has been made as yet," a police officer said. The woman has been booked under section 306 of IPC. Police said she knew Sagar for a long time.
