Khadoor Sahib
The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) sought to remind the voters of ‘Operation Bluestar’ and the November ’84 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi and other parts of the country, in an apparent bid to win over the Sikh voters in the Khadoor Sahib predominantly constituency, which is predominantly rural and is also Sikh dominated.Campaigning in favour of the SAD candidate, Bibi Jagir Kaur, a former president of the SGPC, former minister and SAD general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia said that the Sikhs could not forget ‘Operation Bluestar’ which took place when the Congress was in power at the Centre.

The Akal Takht was heavily damaged as the government rolled in armoured carriers into the Golden Temple complex in an apparent bid to subdue the Sikh masses, he added.” The Congress and the Gandhi family cannot be forgiven for this heinous act and the time has come once again to teach this party a lesson”, he said while addressing his party’s rallies in Tangra and Bundala villages of the constituency on Saturday.

Majithia along with a large number of Youth Akali Dal (YAD) activists participated in a road show from Jandiala town to Bundala village. Majithia himself drove a tractor to lead the rally as people holding saffaron flags of the SAD lined the entire route. Speaking at Bundala, the former minister sought to remind the voters of the mistake they had committed in 2017 when they voted the Congress to power in Punjab.
