Akshay Kumar will be possessed by a transgender ghost in Kanchana 2 remake, Laxmi
Unlike the original, Akshay Kumar’s character in the Kanchana 2 remake will not be possessed by three ghosts and neither will he play a man who can easily be scared.
bollywood Updated: Apr 20, 2019 17:11 ISTHit Tamil horror comedy Kanchana 2 is being remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar in the lead, and the film, tentatively titled Laxmi, will go on floors on Monday. Fresh reports suggest that major changes have been made to the script - while the original featured an easily scared character, Akshay will play the role of a fearless man who does not believe in ghosts.
Kiara Advani, who has also worked with Akshay in Good News will also join him for the Kanchana 2 remake. The original was directed by Raghava Lawrence, who will also helm the Hindi remake.

A Mid Day report quoted a source as saying, “While the premise remains the same, Akshay’s character has been chalked out as one who doesn’t fear the supernatural. The makers also reworked the narrative to create a meaty role for Kiara Advani, who plays Akshay’s wife. In the original film, the hero’s mother and sister-in-law have pivotal parts. In the Hindi counterpart, the sequence where Akshay’s character is possessed by a ghost - the turning point in the story - will take place at Kiara’s house. Her character will play a crucial role in his exorcism. Finally, Akshay will be possessed by one ghost - that of the transgender, Laxmi - and not three ghosts as seen in the Tamil movie.”
Akshay is stepping into the shoes of Sarathkumar, who played the main role in the original film.
Meanwhile, Akshay has completed the shoot for Good News and has a few films in the pipeline, including Housefull 4 and Mission Mangal. He was last seen in the blockbuster Kesari, alongside Parineeti Chopra.
