CHANDIGARH: Police have arrested four persons, including bouncers of a pub, for allegedly assaulting and rioting at Sector 7 on Thursday.

The accused are Sumneek Singh and Shubhdeep Singh, both residents of Sector 70, Mohali, Suraj, a resident of Kharar and Sayeed, a resident of Sector 20.

Sarabjot Singh, who works as head, security, Social, Sector 7, alleged Sumneek and two more men entered the eatery in a drunken condition. After a party, they started teasing a girl waiting outside. When a bouncer tried to stop him, they attacked him. They also damaged a vehicle parked outside the pub. Later, they called up their friends and attacked bouncers with sticks and baseball bats, Sarabjot, a resident of Sector 78, Mohali, alleged.


Sumneek, however, alleged five to seven persons, including bouncers, attacked him with sticks. Sumneek alleged he went to the pub with a woman friend. “When I was dancing with her, one person shoved me aside and started dancing with her. He passed comments at her and abused me. When I resisted, he called the bouncers and all of them assaulted me. Later, his brother also came to the site and attacked me with some sharp-edged weapon and also took Rs 14,000 for striking a compromise,” he alleged.


However, the other party claimed they took Rs 14,000 as compensation for the damages done to the eatery.


Sector 26 police reached the spot and took the injured to a hospital. After getting complaints from both groups, Sector 26 police registered cross FIR’s under the sections of assault and rioting against both parties and arrested four persons.
