YAMUNANAGAR: In a setback to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Yamunanagar Zila Parishad chairperson Renu Bala, BJP’s Muslim Manch state president Arshad Poswal and six members of Zila Parishad of BJP and BSP have joined the Congress on Saturday in the presence of Ambala candidate Kumari Selja during her election campaign in Haryana's Yamunanagar district.

Rajya Sabha MP and Congress’ Ambala candidate Kumari Selja welcomed the leaders to her party at a rally in Chhachhrauli town of Yamunanagar.

After joining Congress, Zila Parishad chairman Renu Bala said she took the decision to join the old grand party because she has been feeling humiliated in the BJP.

Bala said, “The saffron party has diverted from its ideology and it was not giving respect to the loyal workers of the party. We will work hard to ensure the victory of Kumari Selja from Ambala.”

Talking against the claims of Renu Bala, Haryana Vidhan Sabha speaker and BJP MLA from Jagadhri Kanwar Pal Gurjar alleged Bala switched to Congress after BJP did not give her Lok Sabha ticket from Ambala.

BJP fails to fulfill its promises

While attacking BJP, Kumari Selja accused the party of betraying the public by not fulfilling its promises done ahead of 2014 general polls.

“Farmers are dying, traders are crying due to the implementation of GST and demonetisation. Every section of the society is unhappy with the BJP and people will uproot the Modi government,” said Selja.
