Rolls-Royce Phantom Takes A Ride To The Dark Wald Side

Japanese tuner Wald International has a soft spot for Rolls-Royce vehicles, especially the Phantom.

Despite that, the eighth generation of Rolls’ limo had somehow escaped Wald’s eccentric ways. That has been “rectified”, as the new Phantom has been given the Black Bison treatment – and, for once, Wald’s in-your-face body kit has a fitting name considering the size of the car.

Unveiled at the Osaka Auto Messe earlier this year, the design pack follows in the footsteps of previous Wald Phantom modifications and therefore it’s not for those who value understated luxury.

At the front, the Phantom gains a redesigned front bumper with an integrated spoiler and large air intakes. The edges of the spoiler feature chrome details towards the sides, and are joined by a similar chrome trim on the side skirts and the rear bumper.

Speaking of the rear bumper, Wald International went wild with that one by adding a massive diffuser, thick exhaust finishers, and a mesh finish echoing the one at the front.

For the wheels, the tuner opted for 24-inch Wald I13-F Forged multi-piece rims with a finish matching the chrome accents on the bumpers and side skirts. The huge alloys are shod with Toyo Proxes STIII tires sized 295/30 R24. The choice of wheels and the extended bumpers and skirts bring the Phantom closer to the ground without Wald making any modifications to the standard air suspension.

Besides the Matte Black paint, other changes include tinted windows, smoked headlights and taillights, as well as blacked-out logos and badges. Heck, even the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament has been painted black!
