‘It is essential that we make Modi PM again’

On the current political situation
Making Narendra Modi Prime Minister again is essential. The country needs him. As far as the state is concerned, it also requires a BJP government. Though the Centre allotted adequate funds for Odisha’s development, the Naveen government here has not implemented any schemes properly. The welfare measures of the Centre can be implemented if BJP comes to power in the state.
On his chances of winning
I am cent per cent confident of victory. I am with the people and the people are with me. They will certainly vote for me.
On the big political issues of the election
The people of Sambalpur did not feel as if they had an MLA in the last five years. This is the biggest election issue. This apart, there are many problems like poor drainage, health and education and the pathetic condition of the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar).
On courting controversy by brandishing a sword during Hanuman Jayanti processions
Brandishing a sword during a Hanuman Jayanti procession is not a crime. I was accused of violating Section 144 A of the CrPC. Later, it was found that this provision does not exist. Regarding the murder charges against me, I have been falsely implicated. The case took place at Banabira during the Bijepur byelection. The people here are aware of the truth. No brawl had taken place at Banabira on that day. The following day, I came to know that four people had been injured in the incident and admitted in Vimsar. The then director of Vimsar confirmed that all four injured were out of danger. Surprisingly, one of them was suddenly moved to Cuttack and later declared dead. We have sought a CBI probe into the incident.
On his priorities if elected
My first priority will be to become a proper representative of the people. I am with the people and will continue to remain with them.
