Allahabad: Several trains cancelled after Purva Express derailment

ALLAHABAD: Following midnight derailment of Purva Express near Kanpur, several trains have been either diverted or cancelled by the railways. These include a number of important trains that were to start their journey from Allahabad to Delhi and other cities, tonight. Some of the trains, which were to start from Delhi and coming for Kanpur and Allahabad or onward, have also been cancelled.

According to public relation officer (PRO) of North Central Railway (NCR), Amit Malviya, “Following the derailment, several Delhi-bound trains, coming from Deendayal Upadhayay junction last night, were diverted from different routes including some via Cheoki-Manikpur and Jhansi, some from Prayag and other via Sultanpur-Lucknow route”.

He further added that on Saturday morning, at around 6:15 in the morning, although the Down line (Delhi to Howrah) was restored and the Up line would be restored by Saturday night, several of the trains have been cancelled, both from Allahabad and Delhi sides.

Major trains that were to originated from Allahabad on Saturday but were cancelled include Sangam Express, Shiv Ganga express, Allahabad-Jaipur express, Allahaabad-Anand Vihar Humsafar Express. Likewise, Rewa Express and Mahabodhi Express, originating on April 21 from Delhi, too stands cancelled.

From Delhi end, Rewa Express, Anand Vihar-Bhagalpur Garib Rath Express that were to start today have been cancelled. Likewise, Chitrakoot-Kanpur intercity, Humsafar Express, Jogbani Express and Mahanada Express, which were to commence their journey on April 21 are cancelled too.
